About me

Jelle Niemantsverdriet

With over 18 years of international experience – including 7 years based in London, a year in the US, and extensive assignments across EMEA – I’ve built my cybersecurity expertise across Microsoft, Deloitte, Verizon, and Fox-IT, moving from technical incident response to strategic leadership roles.

My career spans investigating major data breaches, building security operations centres, and advising executives on complex security challenges. I’ve led teams ranging from 15 to 50+ people and managed multi-million euro transformation programmes.

Rather than focus solely on compliance checkboxes, I build security programmes that work with how people actually operate. Drawing from safety engineering and behavioural science, I design solutions that are both effective and practical—reducing friction whilst improving protection.

I’ve scaled security capabilities from specialised teams to enterprise-wide programmes, always prioritising solutions that people will actually use. This approach has proven effective across diverse regulatory environments, from financial services to cloud platforms.

As a speaker at conferences like Black Hat USA and NCSC One Conference (300+ presentations total), I challenge conventional security approaches and inspire teams to move beyond fear-driven compliance towards practical resilience. I share insights on building security programmes that actually work in the real world – helping organisations transform from “security as obstacle” to “security as enabler.”

My academic background combines an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Groningen with an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, plus CISSP and CISM certifications.
